I have been tagged by the lovely Lisa at That British Betty and Abbie at Mama Wilkos to complete the Bedtime Tag. Thank you very much for tagging me! Bedtime is one of my favourite times of day, I love getting snuggled up in bed and sleeping, so it’s hopefully going to be nice and easy for me.
Describe your usual bedtime routine.
I usually have a shower and wash my hair. If I’m going to bed earlier than usual I like to have a bath and use a Lush bath bomb or bubble bar. I then usually leave my hair to dry a bit whilst having a flick through Instagram and taking my makeup off and then blow dry my hair. Stu and I then usually have a bit of a natter about something we have seen or done, and then lights out!
What are your favourite pyjamas?
My Harry Potter PJ’s. As an avid fan, they’re a must have! They’re just stripey legging bottoms and a grey baggy tshirt, they’re really comfy! I can’t wear anything too warm as Stuart is a real life hot water bottle. I regularly wake up sweating because he’s lying against me!
What is your current bedtime reading?
I’m not currently reading anything (naughty me). I have had Me Before You on my bedside table for ages, I just haven’t got round to reading it, it’s hard to find time with a little one and when I’m not too tired.
What would I find on your bedside table?
My Emma Bridgewater radio, my phone, my steroid cream for my hands, a glass of water and *usually* my lamp (but some little bugger pushed it off and has broken it!)
What scent makes you sleepy?
I can’t think of anything that makes me sleepy. I think lavender is a relaxing scent for bedtime though.
What is your usual bedtime and wake-up time?
I’m a definite night owl, I go up to have a shower at about 10pm then get into bed at 11-11:30pm. Stuart always moans because I take so long to get into bed! I usually have one or two wake up calls in the night from Oliver, depending on whether he is being nice or not! Then I’m up for the day at anytime between 8:30-9:30am depending on Oliver. (I know, a 11 month old who lies in that long! He’s very well trained)
What are your top three bedtime products?
A good set of sheets, my favourite sheets are the Emma Bridgewater ones. They’re a lovely silky cotton. I use Simple face wipes at bedtime to remove my make up and just cleanse my face, they make me feel nice and refreshed for the night. Finally, a good pillow! I have a super thick pillow, it’s basically like having two pillows in one. I love my pillow and if I can take it away with me I will because no one else’s are as nice.
What is your most common sleeping position?
I tend to sleep on my side or my stomach. It was a nightmare when I was pregnant as I could never get comfy because I couldn’t sleep on my tummy.
Do you have anything you like to take to bed with you?
My Postman Pat teddy. I know, I know, I’m 26 years old and I take a teddy to bed! Stuart HATES him, he moans he’s all scratchy as he’s so old. He was actually knitted for my mum by a colleague when she was younger and she gave him to me when I was little. He’s probably over 30 years old!
What is your worst bedtime habit?
Checking my phone before I go to sleep. I usually like to have a last look on social media before I go to sleep. It’s a bad habit and one I would like to break!
