Over the years I had always toyed with the idea of starting a blog, but I never really knew what it would be about. I’ve always liked writing, I remember starting various stories when I was a child (they were usually about 2 pages long and then I lost inspiration!). I first learnt about blogging when my cousin Sophie set up her blog Sophie Rose (which if you’re interested in beauty and lifestyle is a great blog to check out!) which she’s now been successfully running for a few years now. In my late teens/early twenties I was engrossed in beauty and lifestyle blogs, they were my guilty pleasure, I loved reading about people’s lives and their thoughts on various products.
When I fell pregnant I started looking up reviews on baby products I was thinking of buying, that’s when I first found the world of parenting blogs. I started documenting my late pregnancy when I went on maternity leave (said posts/blog has since been deleted), then I was overwhelmed with a newborn and didn’t find the time to blog. I properly started blogging in the spring, when it was actually Stuart who encouraged me, and with his blessing and support I started my new blog.
I primarily started it to document Oliver’s life and my journey through parenthood. We have family who live far away and overseas and I thought it would be a nice way of them seeing Oliver’s life. I love to write and share my views and general experiences of parenting and just our everyday moments. It also is a way of keeping me sane and just giving me some ‘me’ time during my year off on maternity leave.
If you run a blog what inspired you to start it?
Hi there, I started my blog as a source of information for others based on my experiences. I sometimes struggled to find the information I was looking and decided it was time to do something about it! 🙂 #GlobalBlogging
Hi! I’ve also read your About page. My daughter was born in March 2016, so our babies are similar ages. I also started my blog recently to explore this new world of parenting. I look forward to reading some more from you ? #GlobalBlogging
Thank you, it sounds like we have very similar ideas and parenting styles!
My inspiration to start a blog was my love to my family, too and my recipes of good food for them! Traditional recipes from my homeland Italy, where my parents and my sister live! I live in Germany! Well, so I think your inspiration for your blog is so lovely to share your moments with us and your family overseas! #Globalblogging
Now I follow you on your journey!
– Emmi
I will have to check out your blog, I would love to learn some new recipes, especially some Italian ones!
Thank you!! 😉
Similar to you I have always loved to write but I also wanted to spread the word about mindfulness too! #globalblogging. x
I love this! It’s always interested to learn how people began blogging. I started my site because I was tired of working on topics that weren’t particularly of interest to me (I’ve worked in publishing for more than 15 years), and was ready to write about something I’m passionate about – parenting! This is where my heart is. 🙂

I love this post and totally agree about blogging as a form of sanity during a maternity leave, it’s a great way to connect with the outside world x
I love hearing about why people started blogging. I started because I wanted a creative outlet, and had some hope that if I was honest about how I was feeling as a mum, it might help other mums. Now, I can’t imagine being without my blog! #SharingTheBlogLove
It’s always great to find out why people start blogging. I wish I had started when I had my first son 5 years ago…I always wrote. I wanted to be a journalist or a writer but I guess life got in a way somehow 🙂 Past two years my husband encouraged me to put my recipes and ideas onto YouTube. I hate camera so blogging was an obvious choice. I’m still trying to find my feet but so far I only regret not starting earlier.
Yes my husband encouraged me to do YouTube but I’m a bit self conscious and I don’t have a clue how to edit videos so I won’t be starting any of that yet! I wish I had started when I first got pregnant but I suppose if we are lucky enough to have a second I can blog about that pregnancy! Thanks for reading x
I love to read why people satrted blogging. I started mine back in March 2015 after my third miscarriage. At this point we had had enough and I needed a break from trying to get pregnant so my husband suggested blogging. I just wrote about things I loved, books, gardening and baking. Within a couple months of blogging I got pregnant and we were not trying at that point so was a bit of a shock! Now my gorgeous rainbow baby is 9 months old and I’ve just gone back to work so juggling blogging work and parenthood. I couldn’t be more happy! oh and my blog is now a mixture of everything including lots of parenting stuff! xx

Aw that’s a lovely story, sometimes they do say when you stop trying it happens! Congratulations xx
My reasons for blogging were really similar – I realised after the first year of my son’s life flew by so quickly that I wanted to be better at capturing all those little moments and a blog was the perfect way to do that. I was also a huge fan of beauty and lifestyle blogs, pre-baby, so I guess I got the idea through that too. I hope that even though I’ve been blogging for a little while now that I still manage to stay true to what inspired me in the first place. Thanks for joining us again at #SharingtheBlogLove
I first thought about starting a blog during my maternity leave with my eldest daughter 4 years ago, but I didn’t quite know how to go about it. Then as my maternity leave for youngest daughter was coming to an end, I finally had the courage to go for it. I really love to write and want to capture my daughters childhood to look back on. Its the best decision I made. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove x
I’m very new to blogging to love reading these posts! I started just because I love reading other blogs really, and to fill the void of wedding planning! x #SharingtheBlogLove
Totally agree with the me time. I think it’s important to have something of your own when you’re swamped with looking after other people. #SharingTheBlogLove
Hi, my reasons for blogging were very similar, right down to the fact I used to write stories when I was younger – I used to get quite a long way but then get distracted and just stop – so frustrated about that now of course! Now I blog as a way for a bit of me time, it’s nice just to get my thoughts down on paper and not have a total mummy implosion at the kids 🙂

This is fab. I’m not sure why I started blogging to be honest. I think it was as a creative outlet. I’d tried other crafty thing previously but never been any good at them. I only started blogging in September but I’m really enjoying it so far .

I know of so many Mums that started their blog either before or just after having their babies. I am one of them too. Mine was 3 months old and it was a creative outlet for me when I was at home a lot of the time with just a baby for company. It’s great that it is an option available to us. #sharingthebloglove
I started my blog because I wanted to bring an awareness of child development and how beneficial play is. I have always gone back and forth when it comes to deciding to blog, for years I have said “oh I am going to start my blog now” then never get round to it. Being at university has given me the kick up the backside and I started. I have now been blogging for 5 months and I really do love it #sharingthebloglove
Ooh I started to share my experiences of adoption, connect with other parents / bloggers, then I move to Paris, with no job, stay at home mum and time on my hands, it’s given me a real tangible creative outlet. I love writing and I love reading other people’s blogs, good luck with yours!

This is my latest blog post. It focuses on the lack of support for paid maternity and paternity leave in America. I provide my own story with some useful resources and information on paid and unpaid maternity leave and would love your feedback! This is a topic that I am very passionate about and I hope this comes through in my writing.
