Oliver at 18 months

Oliver at 18 months

1 year and a half has now passed since you entered this world.  You have grown up so much and I really don’t think I can call you my baby anymore.  You’ve become a toddler now and I am so NOT ready for it!  I wish that the baby days could be just that little bit longer, I’m clinging on to those last few things that you do that are babyish!

This month your speech has developed even more.  You still have a limited vocabulary, but the words you do say are used appropriately.  This months favourite words are ‘bang’ and ‘oh dear’. You love it when your toys bang together and you stand there shouting ‘bang, bang, bang’ at them!  When you fall down you stand up and say ‘oh dear’, or if you do something which goes wrong you say it too (it’s said more like oh DEAR’) it’s so bloomin’ cute!

You love running around, I think it’s your favourite thing to do!  You run from room to room in the house, and as soon as you’re outside you run off at the speed of light!  You’ve learnt to jump, it is still early days with your jumping.  Sometimes you get off of the ground and other times you just do a little almost skip.  It’s very sweet and you get so excited when you do it.

You still love your food, and you’ve really started to master the spoon and fork.  Meals always start off with you carefully balancing your food on your spoon, or spearing it with your fork.  But as the meal progresses your hands get more involved!  You absolutely love raspberries and strawberries at the moment.  I reckon you would make your way through a whole punnet if you could!  You have also started enjoying using a proper cup.  Sometimes you drink out of it really well, sometimes you end up covered in water!  But you’re doing so well.

This months favourite things are:

  • Bags – you love a bag!  You hook it up on your arm and love walking around with it.  You love your backpack and your shopping bag, it’s very sweet.
  • Happyland – luckily granny is a Happyland addict, but you love playing with all of the different toys, putting the little people in there places and I can see you will love it for a long time.
  • Trains and cars – you love playing with all of your cars and trains.  You push them along the carpet and make a sort of drum noise.  It’s very sweet!

I can’t believe you’re now closer to two than you are one.  Hopefully the next 6 months won’t pass us so quickly!

Look at him in his little yellow wellies! Oliver is very cute. This age was my favourite when mine were young as they aren’t quite terrible 2’s yet they are gaining more independence and walking. I loved their speech development too as they learn new words everyday. Enjoy! I love these types of post as they are lovely to look back on. #BigPinkLink

This is a lovely tribute and it is a very special age when the personality really shines through – one of my favourite periods of parenting as I found babies boring to be honest but when the speech comes it is so delightful until they get to tweens and teens like mine and they have far too much to say for themselves.
    Beautiful child, gorgeous blgg post

Awwww, I love how you document his life like this, I wish I had been blogging when my two were younger. He’s such a funky little dude. Gorgeous boy. Thanks for linking up with us at the #bigpinklink this week.

I remember this age so well. It’s adorable. Now mine is 4, nearly 5 and starts school next week *sob*. I’m SO not ready for that! Make the most of it, 18 months seems like yesterday! He’s adorable, a credit to you! Thanks for joining us at #TriumphantTales – hope to see you again Tuesday! 🙂
