Time out from the children at the BSpa

Time out from the children at the BSpa

Since we had children, I can probably count the amount of quality time my husband and I have had together on one hand. We haven’t put ourselves first, our boys are our world and they always come miles before us. We have always spent our money on making memories as a family, rather than time just us. So when Brooklands Hotel invited me to come and review their Bspa, we took the opportunity to have some quality ‘us’ time.

We dropped the boys off with my mum and headed over to Brooklands Hotel. When we arrived we booked in at the front desk of the spa and then went to get changed in the changing rooms. We were booked in for the ‘Relax & Indulge’ package. This meant we each had 1 express 25 minute treatment each and afternoon tea included as well as use of all the spa facilities. When checking in we were told what time our treatments were booked for and the time of the afternoon tea. This meant we could then work out our plan of attack on all the facilities!

We started the afternoon with our treatments. My husband had a back massage and I had an express facial. We had a joint room for our these which was nice as we didn’t have to split up. I much prefer this as you don’t then have that awkward moment when you come out and then wander around trying to find your partner! My husband was pretty pleased with his back massage, he said the pressure was perfect and it was the best he’d had in a while! My facial was very relaxing and my skin felt wonderful afterwards!

We were advised when we checked in that two areas required pre-booking; the Meditation room and their new Sunlight Therapy room. You get a 25 minute session in each space without interruption from other spa users. My absolute favourite area was the Sunlight Therapy room. You choose the climate that you want (Mauritius, Miami or Bali) pop some sunglasses on, hit go and relax on a sun lounger! There’s a bright sunlight lamp and the room warms up to a lovely temperature. We could have both spent all afternoon in there! It was the perfect pick me up with the awful weather we’d been having.

We followed this up with 25 minutes in the Meditation room. This involved lying on a heated water bed in a darkened room with calming music playing. It was so relaxing, I could have happily fallen asleep in there! After this we braved the outdoor hot tub. Although the weather was pretty cold and grim, it was lovely and warm in the hot tub. It was really nice to relax in the water and just chat. We enjoyed watching the cars going around the track at Mercedes Benz world opposite.

We finished our afternoon off with afternoon tea in their bar/restaurant area. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were all delicious and it finished our spa day off perfectly. We both headed back to the changing rooms, my husband had a quick couple of minutes in the sauna (which are in the changing rooms) and we checked out of the spa and headed back home to our boys.

We left feeling refreshed and relaxed. Between us we’ve decided that we will definitely make a bit more time for ourselves as a couple in the future. I think spa days will definitely be something we do a bit more often! It’s a time when you can just relax, unwind and chat without being interrupted by small people! And having a bit of a break definitely makes the heart grow fonder! I would recommend Brooklands Bspa to anyone local looking for a bit of time out to relax and unwind. I think the package is great value for money, and they offer a variety of different packages too to suit your needs. Or you could combine it with a stay at the hotel for a relaxing time away.
